This guide consists of helpful hints, facts and suggestions for creating a positive travel experience during your visit to this historic city-wide event! CLICK HERE FOR OUR EXPANDED VERSION. OFFICIAL SWEARING-IN CEREMONY Only 240,000 tickets are issued for the official swearing-in ceremony distributed by local Senators and state officials. The sale of tickets to attend the swearing-in ceremony is strictly prohibited. and you should be cautious of any online offers to buy them. Please Note: The swearing-in ceremony is an outdoor event held on the West Front Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. Inauguration day is typically cold and occasionally wet. Extra consideration should be taken when planning to bring infants, young children, the elderly or anyone requiring special needs.
2009 INAUGURAL PARADE The Presidential Inaugural Parade is a free event, open to the public and held on Tuesday January 20th. The parade begins at 2:30PM, however visitors are expected to arrive very early in the morning to secure a good viewing location. The parade begins on the steps of the U.S. Capitol Building and proceeds along Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House.
